In Canada, Tzu Chi volunteers received a batch of pandemic prevention supplies, donated by a mask manufacturer. Tzu Chi volunteers packed the items and sent it to a local long-term care center before the restriction order begins.

Tzu Chi Foundation Canada launched a Disaster Relief Program for Philippines Typhoon “Goni”
On November 1 Typhoon " Goni", hit southern Luzon Island in the Philippines with a maximum sustained wind speed of 225 kilometers, at least 20 people were killed, and more than 55,000 houses were destroyed. Estimated economic loss, approximately $369 million USD ($1 Billion. TWD).
Goni is the strongest typhoon that hit the Philippines this year. Many houses and telephone poles were blown away. The strong wind caused floods and landslides. Southern Luzon was hit especially hard. Many houses were buried by the landslides.
Tzu Chi Philippines branch rushed to the disaster area and started the relief work immediately. On November 3rd, Master Cheng Yen rallied global Tzu Chi volunteers to appeal the importance of International disaster relief to the public. Any amount of donation will help the cause, Even $1 will help... By combining all the love contributions, it will become an enormous force of Great Love to help the victims to pull through.

In Canada, a Tzu Chi volunteer held a mini gathering at his backyard. In correspondence to the Eco-friendly Picnic Day, zero disposable utensils were used, and all the meals were handmade.

In order to sweep away the depressive mood of seniors during the pandemic, Tzu Chi volunteers and Tzu Chings went to Hesperus Village in Canada to hold a concert on the grass. They sang folk songs for the seniors allowing them to dance happily. Later, they also prepared a hundred special packages of epidemic prevention materials for these seniors.

Let Us Cultivate Blessings Together
Tzu Chi volunteers in Eastern Canada have mobilized to fight the Coronavirus Pandemic. We have been providing financial support, protective gear and other materials to our local communities.
Donations as of May 25, 2020:
- 96 Oxygen Concentrators to North York General Hospital (valued at $75,200)
- 1 Cardiac Monitor (valued at $12,000) and $8,000 COVID-19 Emergency Fund to Trillium Health Partners
- Face Masks - 20,300 pieces
- Medical Gloves – 6,000 pieces
- Face Shields – 2,500 pieces
- Isolation Gowns – 1,000 pieces
- Hand Sanitizers – 40 bottles
- Ramadan Food Bags for 60 low income families
- Snacks and drinks to front-line medical staff
Beneficiaries include hospitals, health care centres, hospice, geriatric care centres, medical professionals, food banks, low-income families, families in need (such as seniors and individuals with disabilities), students and volunteers.

COVID-19 has impacted lives of people in different countries. In Canada, Tzu Chi volunteers distributed masks to the people in need. In addition, they raised funds to buy oxygenators for North York General Hospital in Toronto.

Tzu Chi volunteers around the world are busy delivering epidemic prevention materials to those in need. With the assistance of city councilors, Canadian Tzu Chi volunteers in Richmond Hill sent protective face shields to a long term care center, while Toronto Chapter supported an intellectually disabled care home, to protect the safety of front line medical staff.
